I got into some conflict on a blog (don't want to say anything more than that about it) but it has to do with my feeling that we are too often asked to look on the bright side when we find ourselves in a crisis. I was reminded of Barbara Ehrenreich's book, Bright Sided: How Positive Thinking is Undermining America. Optimism is very much favored by Americans. We are not supposed to bother others with our problems. But look how this isolates us from each other and prevents us from coming up with solutions.
Anyway, in my real life, most people I know are suitably grumpy, including my cat!
