Two companies I count on are mistreating their employees, Amazon and Kaiser.
From Democracy Now:
More than 2,500 nurses and medical workers in southern California are staging a three-day strike to protest benefit cuts sought by the healthcare giant Kaiser Permanente. Nearly 20,000 other Kaiser workers are walking off the job today in a show of solidarity.
I depend on the services of these two corporations while strongly disapproving of the way they treat their employees. Also, Amazon has been fighting sales tax on online purchases. Usually I think sales taxes are regressive, but it's affluent people who buy products online. A small per item tax could raise a lot of revenue for the government.
And today I go for a mammogram (my treat). Kaiser has a mobile van for this, since obviously they are too poor to provide anything better. I do hope to get a flu shot, because evidently the flu is early this year and makes people really ill. We're heading off to the Mainland soon, and I don't want some bug to ruin my time with family.
Hmmmm.... flu shot! Doggone it! Art and I should have looked into that since we're leaving for the mainland on Sunday. Thanks for the heads up.

Kay: Yes, a lot of people already have had the flu. We're not taking off until mid to late October. Good luck!

Woo hoo! We were able to get the shot! Incredible timing. I checked online (Thursday, right after seeing your post) to see if Tripler was giving shots. They were! On Friday! Amazing! I even wrote a post about it and mentioned you. :-)
