Puna tales: I just love this. Talk about local color! There was a big boom down there, and locals respond. The lady on the left in the first clip is Sharna Eberlein, a friend. I have to go to Facebook and tell her she's famous.

You have a Facebook account, Hattie? Where do you find the time to do Facebook, Twitter, and your blog?! I find blogging per se very addictive and time consuming.

Regarding your series on the Pill, I used it a short while when I was 22, but quit for fear that I would develop blood clots. So I got pregnant out of wedlock at age 31. Lol. How dumb! Was a single mom on welfare for almost 2 years, after which I married David. That child is now a math teacher and dept chairman -- and the mother of my 2 grandkids, one of whom I babysit! Absolutely no regrets!

another note: why do you impose word verification when you monitor each comment, anyway? Double kill and so unnecessary -- and aggravating to me!

Gigi: The word verification is aggravating, but Type Pad is doing it because there is so much spam. If it weren't for that my comments box would be inundated with pages and pages of spam. Sorry about that. I will look things over and see if there is a way to let favored users through while moderating other posts.
