Suddenly, feminism is everywhere. Read this from Feministe about the Evangelical movement. And read the comments. It's everything I have been thinking about Evangelicals and volunteerism. I thought I was overreacting to the way Evangelicals (and the fundamentalist Catholics too) had insinuated themselves into so many programs for the poor. But it looks like my feelings of unease are well founded.
This is something everyone should discuss. It seems the heavy emphasis on proselytization is what taints these programs. And I say this as a Christian.
As I've said a while back, belief is a personal thing. If someone asks me about my religion, I'll discuss it to the best of my knowledge, but I'll never badger anyone about it.
