Yikes!!!!! I never associate Hawaii with heinous crimes!!!

Kay: And yet they happen. They are rare, but we have had an uptick lately. The ones that stick in my mind are the Dana Ireland murder, which rocked the Puna District in the early 90's, and a deliberate assault and drowning around that time at a state park in Puna and the more recent stabbing of a woman in front of horrified witnesses in front of the downtown Hilo bus station. And there is a regular number of bodies discovered around, too. Wonder how many people get deep-sixed.

Gun deaths are not rare as your former commenter said. We just seem to pad our views so that we do not think about the terrible violent society which haunts our peripheral vision.

It seems like we are in a very violent time period. I don't know what's going on but people seem more prone to get angry at each other and nastiness spills over into violent reactions :(

I think some of those are homeless people who died of natural causes or exposure.

Musings

We heard about this in the news. So sad...

I was remembering the Gordon Granger murder, which was drug related. This was in 1997. There were six murders that year on the Big Island. My friend Mary knew Gordon through her work at the Zoo. He was a Friend of the Zoo. He had a beautiful house very close to where I live now. I was at an event there in 1996 and met him briefly.
Very sad and shocking case.
