Why is it, when it comes to the Iraq War, that there is no pleasure in saying "I told you so!"? Being right does not always bring happiness. It's because although we were right we could not stop it. We learned how powerless we were. More: Remember this?
I have to stop reading what the respectable elements were saying at the time, because I am getting so damn angry.
Being powerless is what gave us the grand bitterness in this!

I'm not so sure we learned anything from Iraq. Certainly some in our Congress have learned nothing.

Hattie -- I feel that war wears many faces as a consequence of one or many of the following; against the environment, political power, corporate power, laws and regulations, religion, and land aquisition. All at a tremendous cost to people around the world. Change is inevitable -- let's not give in to these negative forces. What is already done is not what we need to worry about -- Taking a stand for the present and the future is important. Yes, I agree, the words, "I told you so" are worthless. -- barbara

Tabor: From the standpoint of some, this was a successful war. At least according to Fox news. It's the same nonsense as Vietnam revisionism. And this will happen again. Keep tuned for the next country to be destroyed. And just hope it isn't the U.S.
Florence: They don't have hard lessons to learn. That is for us, the peons.
Barbara: One destructive thing that is going on right now is the raping of Northwest Australia to provide iron for China. Australians are ignoring this, because they are lolling in wealth. They also consume more, per capita, than even Americans.

It doesn't feel good, but it feels right to have opposed the wars. I'd have even more trouble sleeping, had I supported them. But it's no easier on the psyche, seeing the damage done.
