It's cool and rainy today, as it was yesterday, good reading and (net) surfing weather.
Nice interview with Roy Edroso.A little personal history and how he founded Alicublog. These days he aspires to reach old age. He is illuminating on the topic of the working class who were able to have a solid standard of living for a while but are now being told that is out of the question for Americans any more. I knew the minute that Reagan was elected President that the poor could kiss their a**es goodbye, but I never thought the working class would go down too.
The bad news on Roundup People use it indiscriminately around here, because this is a jungle. They think it's safe, but now it turns out there are residues of it in food after all. I'm not touching any GMO corn or soy products. But even organic foods are no doubt tainted with the stuff. It's everywhere. We don't and never have used Roundup on our lot, but it does not mean it's not in the food we grow on our property, because our neighbors use so much of it. On the highway, the crews come, cut back the vegetation and then heavily Roundup everything. It looks terrible and accelerates erosion. Well, maybe if people understand that it's poison they will stop using it.
The very first page of the World Wide Web My how you have grown!
Oh, and this. Only in Hawaii would a possible thief be described as a "Caucasian-Portuguese mix." The background is that the Portuguese were the intermediary group in the hierarchy between the Anglo owners and the Asian cane field workers in the old plantation days. They were the men on horseback.
