Gorgeous! Mom's got one orchid plant ready to burst forth if the bulbuls don't eat it first.

That photo reminds me of a lot of proms and homecomings where orchids were the flower of choice unless it was a gardenia.

No orchids for N.D. proms in my generation! Gardenia, though, were fragrant and wonderful.

Kay: We don't have those birds here, but we have others that steal our fruit. Oh, BTW, if you can move the plant, you could bring it indoors when it's still in bud, and it will bloom. I often bring orchids indoors at that point, because the blooms can get damaged if they are rained on.
Rain: On our first date, Terry brought me an orchid. It was a cattleya type like the one in the picture, which is the "traditional" corsage orchid.
M.E. I love the glow on orchids when you get them in the right light. We have several gardenia bushes in the backyard that I grew from slips.
