Dear concern trolls: Yes, Obama is involved with a lot of policies I don't approve of, or even hate. There is no need to expound to me at length upon his many shortcomings as a leader. However, he did inherit the mess that Bush left us with. What would our situation be if McCain/Palin had won the presidency, or Romney/Ryan?
It really is useless to tell me things that I already know. This just causes me eyes to glaze over.
Obama (as they say in guyland) just hit it out of the ballpark. His ill-wishers are everywhere on the Internet now, trying to say it isn't so.
Chris Hayes mentions the sudden bumpup in concern trolling and thinks we ought to call this Monday Concern Troll Day. And I like this poster.
More: We know that huge numbers of Americans want Obama to fail. We feel free to discount what they say about Obamacare. At the same time, we need to be aware of real difficulties and work to get the single payer system we need.
Obama had to style health care as a consumer item with ideas about "choice" and "costs" and "services" and so on, because after generations of capitalist propaganda the market is the only system Americans understand any more. And it has become like a monolithic religion.
What is foreign to us is the notion that other people deserve basic human rights, even if we don't like other people or don't identify with them. I happen to believe that health care is a basic human right.
