I'm still pretty feeble and feel sad that I could not join in the fun more when family was here.
I am hopeful about the political situation though still pretty wary. The left is not supine! Push back is going on everywhere, with Obama in the lead. He just threw a bunch of pesky Ruskis out of the country! With 48 hours' notice! What a thrill!
My personal favorite in the comeuppance department is that populist Queen, KellyAnne Conway, can't find places for her children in any prestigious D.C. private school. I'll bet she was really surprised, but what can she say? Private is private, and the gummint can't make them enroll her kids. My friend Twisty Faster has a good suggestion:
She should just put'em in prairie dresses and homeschool'em, like her fans do. https://t.co/vP5N6AhHXZ— Duchess of Umbrage (@IBlame) December 29, 2016
The way to deal with Trump and his toadies is just to say NO, very loudly, to anything they do. Forget about nice for the time being. They don't deserve any mercy. They have been way too nasty. And expose all their criminal activities, too, of which there are so many. Michael Moore is right. Trump isn't going to make it. There may even be strict limits, after all, on the damage he can do. He has lost a lot of key allies on the right and is down pretty much to the lunatic fringe. Of course, crazy as they are, they will do awful things, so I'm not exactly looking on the bright side here.
We must continue to overreact to everything Trump does. No capitulation, no cooperation, is the best strategy. Protect what we can, the way California is doing; resist the nativist right wing agenda and the assault on women's rights and attempts to dismantle the government and ruin the environment.
I wish I did not feel so old and tired right now, but I am starting to regain my faith in my fellow Americans and my hope in a better future. Holding the line is what counts now, though, the big NO.
