"Bild" is a tripe German illustrated newspaper. I give it a solid second place for most hideous web site, bumping Front Page down to third place. First place, of course, goes to The Jolly Roger.* "Bild" is the only German newspaper Bush has granted an interview to. In it he says the high point of his presidency was when he caught a big trout in his private lake.** The low point was 9-11.
German readers can enjoy the entire interview here. It's full of the usual Bushian revelations, such as that Germany is in the heart of Europe and that because of WW II Germans don't like war. A translation will be available courtesy of the White House sometime, according to The Independent.
* To my complete annoyance, Aloha Airlines, which is the only transportation I use on and off this island, advertises on the Jolly Roger web site. They are getting some competition now from a start up airline that goes directly to Oakland, and I can take other carriers to Honolulu. Boycott Aloha Airlines!
**OOPs. Made a mistake. Bush caught a perch, not a trout. Here it is (from the Huff Post):
wow! He learned all those revelations from the Lucky Fish??????

And English readers can read the entire interview here:

Before the 45 minutes long interview with Bild editor Kai Diekmann started, President Bush gave him an extensive tour of the Oval Office and Diekmann told President Bush about the pledges all Bild employees have to sign: "Since September 11th, we have a new belief -- you have to be for partnership with America. Otherwise, you can't work for us, you can't come -- you have to sign it in your contract."
In another interview with German TV he made some surprising Gitmo statements. Excerpts in our blog:

Thanks for the link, Wilber.
This is choice: Bush sez:
"I talked to Putin, President Putin the other day, right before Angela came."
If Germans need any more proof that Bush is a culturally insensitive boob, there it is.

What's the Jolly Roger?

It's a bunch of neocon guys who started out at Princeton. Regular little pirates they were. The disruption of Toni Morrison's writing class remains their most infamous prank.
Click on the link above for their merry tales.

Just found out about this. Bild has a "watchblog": www.bildblog.de (it's in German, which I can't read). You may find it of interest.
