Don't read this if you are fortunate enough not to suffer from this condition! Unless you enjoy the gory details, that is.
For years I thought the way to deal with toenail fungus* and thick, warped and ingrown toenails was to keep them as short as possible. My doctor said, though, that I should not cut them too short. She was right. What happens if you let them get longer is that eventually the ingrown sections come away very easily, leaving you with comfortable and decent looking nails. Since they are somewhat discolored, I use nail polish on them and have feet that are decent enough looking that I can wear sandals. Take note, younguns. If you have fair skin, it will not tan evenly when you get to a certain age but will look like this.
*My father, who was stationed in the Marshall Islands during WW II, came back with a very bad case of toenail fungus, which he passed on to me. I've never been able to get rid of it completely.

We started watching "Better Call Saul." Hahahahahaha! Great camera work. I feel like I've been to New Mexico now. It's got all the usual cliches, of course: the bonehead Mexican gangster and his addled grandma, the bewildered dumb adolescent criminals, the hostile and unhelpful receptionist of color, the mean old obstructionist white guy, the desperate, clever, conniving lawyer: but I laughed out loud at a lot of it anyway.
Sometimes I forget that Americans are the funniest people in the world.
I also just finished a novel that is about creativity, on Lena Dunham's recommendation. It's called Innocents and Others and is by Dana Spiotta. It's original and fascinating to me, although I'm sure it will not appeal to all, or even to many. The characters are people who don't even think about being worthwhile. But if you happen to be on this particular creative track, it's for you. None of the reviewers seem to understand that this book is about being an artist and believe it's about relationships. Or movies, which it seems to be in a technical way, but always the means and material are secondary to the creative drive, which takes what's available and makes art out of it. Not really a review, just an observation.
I just finished the second season is of Better Call Saul. It is entertaining for sure.

Ingineer: It's fun to watch something that is just entertaining and has no redeeming social value!

As a redhead I've never tanned in the true sense of how other skin types do. Ithe sun exposure either gave me a burn which I tried to avoid, what I acquired has been even, darker than my natural skin, but a reddish quality.
Had ingrown toenail as child which necessitated being seen by Doctor, so was fortunate to get direction then & haven't had since. Hope I can avoid fungus as understand from others I know its hard to get rid of. Wonder if more of a problem in wetter warm climates?

I have an ingrown toenail that my podiatrist lets grow long so I guess he know what he's doing. I feel they're his feet and not mine, LOL.

wisewebwoman: Yep. I'm tall, so I feel that my feet are pretty far away sometimes. I'm fighting a little numbness in my right foot and hope the measures I'm taking to bring down my blood sugar will help with that.

Fungus never goes away. I've never had it, personally, but Hunky Husband has treated his feet daily for many years. I don't know where he picked the fungus up; but, it must be difficult to catch since I've not followed suit in all our years of cohabitation.
